Ari's Goldmine: Live Experiences

The big bet on humanity...

Good Morning.

Today - on this lovely, damp Friday - we’re talking about the real life inspiration behind one of TV’s all-time characters.

Ari Emmanuel has been in the news recently.

Usually it’s his clients on the media circuit, but now he’s stepping forward a bit more to discuss his big “anti-ai” bet.

Last month, Ari launched Mari - a new Holding Company featuring mostly live entertainment assets including Frieze Art Show and various international tennis tournaments. You can be sure more will follow.

In support, Ari joined Patrick O’Shaughnessy on his podcast this week to explain why he is all-in on premium live experiences going forward.

He said:

“As people increasingly value experiences over things – and as hybrid work and AI give us more time to enjoy them – sports, art, lifestyle, and entertainment are becoming even more essential.”

Bingo.

Loyal readers will recognize this POV.

In fact, they might even say Ari is referring to “Human-Proof Experiences.”

We’ve been talking more-so about the existential risks of farming every aspect of your life out to the computers, but this takes it a step further.

As more and more of our daily, time consuming tasks are eaten by AI. We will, in fact, have much more time on our hands. And while many may choose to scroll and swipe, the real ones know the best moments are IRL.

I think this is THE bet of our time.

Let the engineers handle the tech.

Let’s maximize offline fulfillment. Meaning. Purpose. Community.

For example: on Monday, I went to the Forum to see Tame Impala.

It was incredible, but the icing on the cake was the 25 year old kid next to me screaming every lyric and trying to smoke cigs inside.

Made my night.

You don’t get that energy - that humanity - streaming music alone in your room.

It just hits different. It creates a moment. A memory.

Chase them. Collect them. Share them.

They’re uniquely ours.
